Pastor Varnado became Senior Pastor of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church of New Orleans, Louisiana in December 2011. As Pastor, he has led the church in major strides of growth in evangelizing to the community.
Pastor Varnado served as a teacher with 14 years teaching Social Studies and Music courses at the middle and high school levels. He also served as a Professor at Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary.
Pastor Varnado earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies Education from Southern University at New Orleans in 2000. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary in 2006. On May 16, 2018, Pastor Varnado received an Honorary Doctorate degree from Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary.
Pastor Varnado is the father of six children and grandfather of twelve grandchildren. He is married to First Lady April Varnado.
For many years, Pastor Varnado has worked tirelessly in the community. He works with various community agencies and leaders on improving the condition of our people through the spreading of the Word of God. Pastor Varnado is a staunch supporter of the school system and the effective teaching of children to grow and become an active and vital part of the community.
Pastor Varnado follows the motto as it is written in the scripture in Acts 2:42, “To continue stead fastly in the Apostle’s doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Praising God, and having favor with all the people.”
